Just for Parents

Safety on the Trail

Each trip is led by experienced guides who have extensive training in mountaineering, orienteering, relationship building, first-aid, and high altitude medicine.  Guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid by NOLS Wilderness Medicine. Wilderness Ranch is in a remote part of Colorado and communication between basecamp and trail trips is difficult. We do equip guides with communication devices in efforts to maintain communication during the week.

Contacting your Child

Campers will leave from basecamp on Sunday after lunch and return on Friday afternoon. If there is an emergency at home during the time they are on the trail, please call the office and as we are able, will pass along the information.

What You Need To Know

We're excited to have your student join us this summer at Wilderness Ranch! We know this is a big trip that comes with a lot of questions. We're here to help!

Campers are outside of cell phone service the whole time they are at camp; their phones are collected and kept secure at basecamp throughout the week. Campers will be able to call home on their cell phones shortly after they leave camp.
Our guides, who are certified in Medication Administration, will dispense medications to campers on the trail. Please call the office or your trip leader if you have any questions/concerns.
Special Dietary Needs:
We will work with you to meet your dietary needs. We ask that all dietary needs are communicated with our office at least 10 days prior to camp.
The camp store has t-shirts, books, and other gifts availble for purchase using cash or credit card. The Par Bar (snack bar) will be open Friday afternoon after coming off of the trail.
For your convenience, we've provided a printable A Parent's Guide to WR including contact information.
